About the role

The Material Handler operates a forklift to move, locate, relocate, stack, count, unload, and load merchandise within the warehouse. This role is responsible for the safe and efficient use of industrial vehicles and equipment, order selection, inspection, and adherence to Wavepoint Warehousing's operational and safety policies. Additional tasks include unstacking, packing, shrink-wrapping, and restacking pallets of products to create display packs for customers. Our warehouse is conveniently situated along the bus route, facilitating easy access for commuting employees.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect trailers and inbound materials for signs of shipment damage, contamination, and infestation. Report any damages to supervision.
  • Verify quantities, lot numbers, and production code dates against manifests and driver documents. Report any shortages, misplacements, or discrepancies to supervision.
  • Unload inbound trailer shipments safely and efficiently.
  • Move product to the appropriate storage locations.
  • Pull and prepare product for shipment, ensuring proper locations, quantities, and lot numbers.
  • Perform picking duties efficiently to meet customer service standards.
  • Inspect outbound materials for damage, contamination, and infestation. Report any issues to supervision.
  • Safely and efficiently move products from staging or storage areas into trailers using sit-down and stand-up forklifts or other power equipment.
  • Inspect equipment daily and verify operational safety before use. Report any issues to supervision.
  • Maintain equipment and materials in a neat, clean manner.
  • Operate all equipment safely and efficiently, following prescribed work methods.
  • Keep records and reports to ensure inventory control and security.
  • Ensure proper stock rotation.
  • Assist in physical inventories.
  • Lift cases off pallets to place on the conveyor.
  • Remove bottles from trays and place them in a tray of mixed product.
  • Guide packed product cases through the wrap machine, shrink-wrap, and stack at the end of the line.
  • Properly palletize cases per customer order and wrap with stretch film.
  • Drive a lift truck, if certified, to move full and empty pallets.
  • Advise the lead person of any damage.
  • Keep the work area clean from trash and debris.
  • Pick up and sort dropped containers (good or damaged).
  • Perform other duties as requested by the lead/supervisor.

Requirements

  • Prior forklift experience.
  • Safe driving operations.
  • Detail-oriented and results-driven.
  • Ability to stand for 4-8 hours a day and walk for short periods.
  • Lifting, including occasional heavy lifting (10-60 lbs.), overhead lifting, and lifting from floor level.
  • Carrying items weighing 10-60 lbs.
  • Pushing and pulling.
  • Climbing, balancing, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
  • Ability to work in various conditions: indoors and outdoors, temperatures ranging from 0°F to 100°F, dry or wet climates.
  • Ability to work in trailers with temperatures of 0°F or below, or 32°F and above.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and understand the English language.
