About the Role
The X-Ray Department Material Handler/Scriber works closely with the supervisor to set and maintain schedules based on production needs. This role coordinates part flow, manages staging areas, organizes jobs into Kanban cells, and supplies X-ray tubes according to production schedules. It also involves precise scribing and serialization of castings, strict log accuracy, documentation control, and record management.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the supervisor and operations to produce daily, weekly, and monthly schedules for X-ray.
- Organize carts and baskets of parts in the staging pen area and distribute to other departments as needed.
- Manage part flow from the staging pen to Kanban cells and X-ray booths per schedule and production needs.
- Understand customer requirements, internal scrap challenges, rework, and customer returns, ensuring awareness of how material handling impacts departmental quality.
- Review and inspect all material being handled, incorporating self-inspection to verify correct part identification and routing.
- Follow all applicable CMCC procedures, traveler processes, film storage guidelines, and scanning protocols.
- Execute procedures and specifications to properly scribe and serialize parts per customer requirements, traveler tickets, log books, and Unipoint instructions using approved techniques.
- Maintain, sort, and categorize X-ray film, ensuring accurate records for retention and disposition are tracked.
- Assist in assigned outsource functions and train or guide new employees on proper scribing, logging, and material handling processes.
- Wear proper safety equipment and maintain a clean, safe, and highly organized work and staging area at all times.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong time management and ability to multitask.
- Organizational skills and proficiency in Microsoft Suite and basic computer tasks.
- Clear, legible printing skills.
- Physical ability to move and handle parts and equipment.
