Material Handler - Night Shift

Responsibilities

• Operates Forklift and/or Overhead Crane properly and safely.
• Prepares materials to be used for packaging and shipping of finished coils.
• Packages finished coils in a safe manner and moves those coils to a designated location for finished goods.
• Verifies that finished goods (coils) are properly identified with an identification ticket prior to moving them to a storage area.
• Verifies that finished goods (coils) are not damaged or visibly non-conforming prior to moving them to a designated storage area.
• Quarantines non-conforming material (using the HFI process) and notifies Quality Control when non-conforming conditions exist.
• Understands and complies with the fundamental principles associated with the Quality and Environmental Management systems in place at BlueScope.
• Communicates daily with all levels of employees to assist in resolving problems and achieving company goals.
• Keeps equipment and work area clean and orderly.
• Ensures compliance with federal and state laws.
• Performs all duties in a safe manner.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) or experience.
• Ability to read and comprehend documents including but not limited to policy manuals, safety rules/programs, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and simple correspondence.
• Ability to communicate information effectively one-on-one, in small group situations and settings.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Must be able to understand metal and paint characteristics and defects.
• Required to use power hand tools.
• Required to drive a forklift.
• Required to operate overhead cranes.
• Able to work effectively to meet deadlines.
• Able to work with a diversified work force.
