Location: Sparks, MD • Duration: 12 months • 40 hours/week • Pay range: $16–20/hr • 1st shift: Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM–2:30 PM (overtime opportunities available) • Contract on W2 (US citizens, GC holders, GC EAD, OPT, EAD, or CPT only) • Temperature-controlled, refrigerated distribution center

About the role

The Material Handler II is responsible for the safe, accurate loading and unloading of product within the distribution center. Duties are representative and not all-inclusive; omission of a specific duty does not preclude it from the position.

Responsibilities

  • Pallet/Case Picking
    • Process customer orders: scan bar codes, pick, label boxes, and pack/process orders using RF technology.
    • Follow Good Documentation Practices (GDP) as outlined in SOP.
    • Complete RF device training to obtain necessary profiles.
    • Verify accuracy and package shipments.
  • Pallet Build
    • Scan, retrieve, and place completed orders on pallets; re-palletize products for shipment.
    • Perform dock manifest duties: scan completed pallets and operate shrink wrapper.
    • Transport pallets using Material Handling Equipment (MHE).
    • Verify accuracy and package shipments.
  • Inbound/Outbound/Inventory Movement
    • Load/unload inbound/outbound shipments utilizing the Warehouse Management System (WMS).
    • Ensure safe loading/off-loading to prevent damages.
    • Complete assigned duties in a timely manner following department standards and procedures.
    • Operate parcel manifest station and handle transportation documentation as required.
    • Maintain work area per SOP and work instructions.
    • Complete RF device training and follow GDP.
    • Adhere to all safety instructions and report injuries, accidents, or unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Material Handling Equipment
    • Operate MHE safely; report damage or maintenance issues immediately.
    • Maintain equipment certification and keep equipment neat and orderly.
  • Safety and Security
    • Perform job activities safely and report all injuries, accidents, or unsafe conditions.
    • Maintain warehouse security and promote a safe environment.
    • Report suspicious persons or activity.
  • Quality
    • Understand and support organizational quality goals.
  • Sanitation and Housekeeping
    • Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area at all times.
    • Follow facility cleanliness guidelines.
  • Hazmat Training
    • Complete Hazmat training as provided, including general awareness, function-specific, security awareness, security plan, and safety training.
  • Cross-training
    • Learn responsibilities of other warehouse positions and assist as required.
    • Act as backup during absences or vacations.
  • Maintain current status in C2C training modules.

Requirements

  • High School diploma, GED, or 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with Material Handling Equipment (MHE), including Order Pickers, Reach Trucks, Counter Balance (slip and clamp), and Dock Stocker.
  • Ability to obtain Forklift Certification to meet client guidelines.
  • Good verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced distribution environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret distribution documents.
  • Ability to work well with others and under minimal supervision.
  • Experience operating MHE and using Voice/RF scanner.
  • Ability to perform in a metrics-driven environment.
  • Basic analytical, organizational, and prioritization skills.
  • General distribution knowledge.
  • Must be able to perform essential functions of the position, with or without accommodation.

Physical Demands

  • Regular exposure to walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, balancing, crouching, reaching, pushing/pulling, grasping, twisting, and lifting (up to 50 lbs in some areas).
  • Frequent use of hands for finger, handle, feel, pick, or type, including repetitive motion of wrists, hands, or fingers.
  • Occasional climbing.
  • Regular exposure to moving mechanical equipment.

Pay

$16–20/hr

Schedule

1st shift: Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM–2:30 PM (overtime opportunities available)
