About the Role

A Material Handler processes parts through the organization both physically and through the Warehouse Management System for record keeping. This role involves handling a variety of materials and products, operating forklifts, pallet jacks, and other machinery, and maintaining clean inventory, loading areas, and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Use hand trucks, dollies, pallet jacks, and other motorized equipment to move material or freight in the warehouse-storage facility.
  • Unload customer products as they come inbound and load product for outbound processing.
  • Weigh products and take measurements (DIMS).
  • Receive, unpack, check, and verify product to ensure accuracy; process receiving exceptions as needed.
  • Use handheld RF tools to receive, pick, stock check, and ship products into the WMS.
  • Conduct stock checks, part number verification, cycle counts, and support physical inventory.
  • Pack, re-pack, and wrap products for shipping and storage; consolidate partial pallets into full pallets.
  • Label parts during receipt, put away, picking, or shipping processes.
  • Pick parts for order fulfillment, shipments, scrap requests, etc.
  • Strap/unstrap or open pallets, boxes, or crates as needed.
  • Stage completed orders or shipments in the staging area.
  • Ensure orders and shipping materials are accompanied by proper delivery documents (e.g., revised BOL, packing slip, manual tag).
  • Inform lead/supervisor about OSD (overages, shortages, and damage) found during order picking or shipments.
  • Check QB to ensure timely and accurate responses to inquiries.
  • Process RAM to ensure efficient and accurate handling of materials.
  • Verify incoming shipments for accuracy and completeness; place materials in variance with proper categorization and tracking.
  • Process materials for shipment to BELFOR, coordinating logistics and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures, including workplace safety regulations.
  • Execute department-specific documentation processes, including bill of lading verification, inventory reconciliation, and WMS data entry.
  • Perform housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Occasional use of hand tools and/or power tools.
  • Cross-train as needed to learn other warehouse functions.
  • Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be able to stand, walk, use hands to handle objects, reach with hands and arms, climb ladders, kneel, and crouch.
  • Must be able to lift and move items up to 50 lbs. unassisted while using safe lifting techniques.

Qualifications & Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 0-2 years’ warehouse and logistics experience.
  • 1-2 years’ forklift experience preferred.
  • Willingness to learn and apply LEAN principles, including 5S and 7S methodologies; training provided.
  • Great communication skills.
  • Understanding of logistics, shipping, receiving, and standard work instruction protocols.
  • Strong math and writing skills.
  • Basic computer skills with knowledge of Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Prior experience with inventory control preferred.
  • Excellent time management.
