About the role
As a Material Handler/Kitter, you will assist in daily department operations with a focus on distribution, prepping, kitting, and staging of material, as well as inventory control.
Responsibilities
- Layout, position, align, and fit components into welding fixtures as instructed.
- Follow safe work practices to ensure personal and co-worker safety.
- Assign inventory locations to parts and deliver job orders according to procedures.
- Operate fork trucks safely and efficiently to move material.
- Complete inspections before routing goods to departments or storage.
- Pick jobs and deliver parts to specified departments.
- Notify relevant personnel of parts shortages, late work orders, incorrect bills of material, scheduling/purchasing/sales errors, missing prints, or missing parts.
- Complete daily paperwork and computer transactions for inventory movement.
- Maintain accurate inventory records, perform cycle counts, troubleshoot errors, and kit/move product along the production area.
- Manually lift and move boxes, totes, and containers weighing up to 33 lbs.
- Perform 5S duties and maintain 5S standards.
- Understand and execute inventory paperwork and computer transactions as needed.
- Move within the department/plant as assigned.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED.
- Proven ability to operate forklifts safely.
- Basic computer skills, including inventory transaction experience.
- Forklift certified or ability to complete Epiroc-approved certification.
- Solid math and counting skills with emphasis on consistency and accuracy.
- Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Ability to read and understand work order routings and instructions.
- Ability to assist production with assembly and machine completions.
- Excellent critical thinking, communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
