Responsible for the safe movement of Customer product. Duties include movement of product within unprocessed storage area, transfer of product to processing area, loading and unloading processed product, placing and retrieving monitoring devices on product, pre-shipping preparation, and staging product in processed area.
Responsibilities
- Transfers product from unprocessed storage area to processing area, loads, and unloads processed product.
- Conducts pre-shipping preparation and stages product in processed area.
- Reviews product/process documents and customer-provided special instructions to ensure accurate processing.
- Maximizes processing and minimizes downtime by monitoring equipment; conducts and performs minor repairs, referring major malfunctions or unsafe conditions to management or Maintenance Department.
- Maintains a clean, orderly work area and performs material handling and production functions as needed.
- Processes product according to specifications if qualified by training and certification.
- May assist in maintaining product inventory by receiving, identifying, labeling, and storing product within the Shipping and Receiving area.
- Contributes to accuracy of processing and product accountability by maintaining product documentation and implementing corrective action as needed.
- Places, retrieves, and analyzes product monitoring devices per processing specifications.
- Contributes to safe product processing by researching and responding to alarm conditions; reports events outside normal parameters to Supervisor, Team Leader, or Operator.
- Assists in resolving issues within operational and safety guidelines; conducts daily area housekeeping.
- Participates in Operator training to further develop skills.
- Performs duties in accordance with STERIS policies, GMP, Lean principles, and other directives; supports decisions of higher-level management.
- May perform duties of Material Handler I, Warehouse Material Handler, Warehouse Assistant, and/or Operator with initiation/completion of Operator training program.
- May train other Material Handlers in essential job functions.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Prior forklift experience.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must be clean-shaven to wear proper PPE.
- Ability to effectively read, write, and verbally communicate.
- Ability to work while seated or standing, using your hands.
- Normal hearing range sufficient to hear alarms, bells, horns, etc.
- Above-average organizing, analyzing, and Level 1 math skills (add/subtract 2-digit numbers, multiply/divide by 10’s and 100’s, use arithmetic functions with money and measurements).
- Ability to navigate defined computer screens.
- Be dependable, on time, and a team player.
- Pay attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Four (4) years of warehousing experience in an FDA, ISO, or GMP environment or passing score on Operator test.
- Ability to work independently under general guidelines and supervision.
- Effective interpersonal skills as demonstrated through prior experience.
- Ability to adapt to changing duties and responsibilities.
- Basic computer and math skills.
Pay
$18.32 per hour plus a $2.00 shift differential for night shift. This position is eligible for bonus participation.
Schedule
- Multiple shifts available: 5:30am - 5:30pm OR 5:30pm - 5:30am.
- Two-week rotation:
- Week 1: Mon, Tues, Fri, Sat, Sun
- Week 2: Wed, Thur
