Under direct supervision, the Material Handler II is responsible for processing daily distribution tasks specific to loading, unloading, moving/transferring, and transacting materials to support in-plant logistics. This position requires attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, accurately completing transactions and fulfilling requests in a timely manner for the receipt, delivery, and shipment of all goods. These functions include operating in a cGMP environment and adhering to strong inventory management procedures.

Responsibilities

• Performs manual and clerical duties related to shipping, receiving, storing, issuing, and delivering a variety of materials, equipment, and supplies.
• Perform physical counts of inventory.
• Packs products for shipments.
• Transports materials between departments, facilities, and/or production floor.
• Transacts inventory/material movements in JDE system accurately and timely, in accordance with strong inventory control practices.
• Selects and transacts materials for work orders and sales orders.
• Follows federal and international regulations regarding hazardous substance transportation.
• Assures accurate counting, staging, and storage of materials and supplies.
• Operates warehouse vehicles such as sit-down, stand-up, and side-loader forklifts, pallet jacks, and related material handling equipment in narrow aisles and cold storage facilities.
• Follows all standard operating procedures and GMP guidelines.
• Adheres to all safety training and instructions, with knowledge of materials and safety.
• Participates in the effective training of other employees.
• Carries out duties in compliance with established business policies.
• Performs other duties and projects as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be forklift certified.
• Trained in the safe usage of basic warehouse equipment such as order pickers.
• Computer skills including Excel, Word, and transaction data entry.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic math skills.
• Knowledge of cycle count procedures.
• Hands-on experience shipping products via common freight carriers.
• Hands-on experience supplying materials to production work orders.
• Strong time management skills with an ability to multi-task.
• Demonstrates commitment to the development, implementation, and effectiveness of QuidelOrtho Quality Management System per ISO, FDA, and other regulatory agencies.
• Understands and is aware of the quality consequences and device defects that may occur in their area of responsibility, including product design, verification and validation, manufacturing, and testing activities.
• This position is not currently eligible for visa sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

• Two to five years of related warehouse/stockroom environment utilizing material handling equipment and computerized inventory control system.
• Previous experience in a GMP environment.
• APICs certification or lean/continuous improvement experience in a distribution and/or manufacturing environment.

Interacts maturely with all levels of employees. Facilitates team interaction and communicates with department team leaders and supervisor. Actively supports QuidelOrtho’s team efforts. Works in a team-based environment, participating in meetings, reviews, team huddles, and metric reviews.

Work Environment

The work environment includes a manufacturing, laboratory, and warehouse setting with exposure to viral and bacterial hazards, potentially hazardous chemicals, as well as infectious or potentially infectious bodily fluids, tissues, and samples. Flexible work hours may be required to meet project deadlines.

Physical Demands

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. or more at least 35% of the day on a regular basis.
• Walking, standing, and climbing for long periods of time (up to 50% of the day).
• Specific vision abilities required include close and distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.
• Must operate a forklift approximately 15% of the time.

Schedule

This role is scheduled for 2nd shift: Monday - Friday, 2:00 pm - 10:30 pm PT.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $41,365.59 - $45,000 annually. The range takes into account factors such as education, experience, knowledge, skills, geography, and abilities of the candidate, in addition to internal equity and alignment with market data.
