Description
Responsible for the management of the Buffer area, including:
- Flow of materials held in buffer and overcrowding.
- Transfer of materials in totes to trucks and staging in buffer area.
- Release of completed orders to take-away conveyor.
- Problem resolution and recording of book order status transactions.
- Use of Book Order Control System to obtain and update book order information.
- Entry of information into computer systems (SCS and Oracle) for order fulfillment.
- Collaboration with co-workers to resolve issues related to overages, shortages, and mis-routings.
- Performance of investigations based on Oracle and SCS (conveyor) information.
- Point of contact for special handling requests.
- Performance of other duties of equal or lesser classification, including changes in department, hours (mandatory overtime), or work conditions as directed by supervisor.
- Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality.
- Maintenance of safe, clean, and organized work areas, including emptying trash cans and sweeping floors as needed.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent and relevant experience as a Material Handler III or equivalent.
- Advanced proficiency in production standards of efficiency and skill of Material Handler III.
- PC proficiency and familiarity with Book Order Control System.
- Ability to read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Flexibility to make appropriate safety decisions and adapt to changing work environments.
- Ability to work and communicate effectively and respectfully with co-workers while adhering to company rules, policies, and standards of conduct.
- Ability to work in a production environment with varied temperatures, noise (conveyor), and dust.
- Capability to stand/walk for 8-hour shifts, frequently bend, and lift 40 lbs (up to 70 lbs occasionally).
- Ability to push book trucks weighing several hundred pounds.
- Required to float throughout the work area and move between zones as workload demands.
