Job Overview

Under limited supervision, material handling duties include counting, staging, and moving materials throughout the facility. Responsible for accurate inventory transactions, work order pulling, and safe operation of forklifts and other equipment. This role requires moderate proficiency in all core tasks without the need for direct oversight.

A Day In The Life

  • Moves materials to and from loading docks, delivery trucks, storage areas, and production areas using material handling equipment (MHE) such as hand trucks, pallet jacks, carts, forklifts (sit-down and double reach), Work Assist Vehicle (WAV).
  • Limits and unloads incoming and outgoing shipments, stages materials for inspection and storage.
  • Locates materials and supplies by pulling and verifying materials and supplies listed on bill of materials and staging to appropriate work cell area.
  • Maintains in-process inventory at work centers and documents material movements.
  • Receives and processes return materials from production.
  • Ensures proper palletizing and racking of materials.
  • Completes equipment inspections and maintain cleanliness of work areas.
  • Adheres to all safety policies and procedures.
  • Works independently and is accountable for resolving material handling errors in real time, with guidance from Material Handler A, Leads, and Supervisors as needed.
  • Keeps work areas, warehouse, storage areas, and all equipment clean, neat, and orderly.
  • Collaborates with Leads, Planners, and Supervisors to support production priorities.

  • Competence in executing ERP system proficiently for inventory and transaction management.
  • Skilled in operating sit-down and double reach forklifts.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
