About the role

Apogee Architectural Metals is a segment of Apogee Enterprises, Inc. specializing in aluminum framing, windows, storefront, curtainwall, and entrance systems. The Material Handler I assists in accurately handling inventory according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). The Materials team works together to receive, pick, pack, and ship product to customers.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to manage inventory, including cycle counting and stock rotation.
  • Understanding of warehouse management systems (WMS) for tracking and reporting inventory.
  • Basic problem-solving skills for handling discrepancies in orders or inventory.
  • Ability to read and interpret work instructions.
  • Perform basic computer functions related to data entry.
  • Strong organizational skills for efficient space utilization and inventory management.
  • Ability to lift, move, and handle materials safely.
  • Must be cross-trained and able to support all Material Handler I roles.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent is required.

  • Operation of basic material handling equipment (e.g., pallet jacks, hand trucks).
  • Ability to use and accurately read measuring devices (tape measures).
  • Ability to use hand tools (hammer, wrench, level, etc.).
  • Ability to follow blueprints.
  • Ability to read and interpret Work Instructions and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Ability to use a computer with basic proficiency (data entry).

Work Environment

The position is based in a manufacturing facility, which may involve exposure to loud noises, varying temperatures, and dust from production processes. Associates will frequently work near or with machinery with moving parts, following strict safety protocols. The facility operates on shift schedules with potential for overtime, including weekends, based on production needs.
