About the role
The Material Handler I plays a crucial role in the USC Department of Facilities Planning & Management (FPM), responsible for receiving, processing, and delivering orders, as well as loading and delivering merchandise.
Responsibilities
- Processes orders for delivery.
- Loads and delivers merchandise to various locations.
- Verifies merchandise shipments against purchase orders, packing slips, and waybills.
- Packs and ships all outgoing merchandise (including returns) according to department procedures.
- Makes pick-ups and deliveries, as required.
- Accepts incoming shipments and moves merchandise to appropriate areas.
- Transfers materials between storage areas and relocates materials within the storage facility.
- Logs shipments, completes paperwork, and files documents as needed.
- Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of the area, including removing trash.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Qualifications
- May require the ability to operate forklifts and other material handling equipment, and use scales, postage meters, UPS machines, etc.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One year of combined experience/education as a substitute for the minimum work experience requirement.
- A valid California driver's license with at least two years of driving experience.
Pay
The hourly rate range for this position is $20.71 - $22.22.
