Material Handler I

About the role

The Material Handler I plays a crucial role in the USC Department of Facilities Planning & Management (FPM), responsible for receiving, processing, and delivering orders, as well as loading and delivering merchandise.

Responsibilities

• Processes orders for delivery.
• Loads and delivers merchandise to various locations.
• Verifies merchandise shipments against purchase orders, packing slips, and waybills.
• Packs and ships all outgoing merchandise (including returns) according to department procedures.
• Makes pick-ups and deliveries, as required.
• Accepts incoming shipments and moves merchandise to appropriate areas.
• Transfers materials between storage areas and relocates materials within the storage facility.
• Logs shipments, completes paperwork, and files documents as needed.
• Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of the area, including removing trash.
• Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications

• May require the ability to operate forklifts and other material handling equipment, and use scales, postage meters, UPS machines, etc.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of combined experience/education as a substitute for the minimum work experience requirement.
• A valid California driver's license with at least two years of driving experience.

Pay

The hourly rate range for this position is $20.71 - $22.22.
