About the role
Transport materials to or from storage or work sites to designated areas. Load and unload materials from vehicles, into vehicles, and into or out of containers while handling a variety of items in accordance with company standards to avoid damaging or soiling donations. Secure materials during transport and maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide outstanding customer service.
- Adhere to Goodwill Industries of the Inland Northwest directives, rules, policies, procedures, and departmental and organizational standards.
- Load, unload, and move materials within or near plant, yard, or work site, including sorting, storing, and processing incoming donations according to company standards.
- Transport newly processed merchandise to appropriate areas such as stores, holding areas, or load zones as directed.
- Read work orders or follow oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved.
- Safely load and unload materials onto or from pallets, carts, totes, trays, racks, and shelves using hand trucks, pallet jacks, or other lifting devices, including employee assistance.
- Effectively sort and stack materials, including incoming donations, in a safe and organized manner to avoid damage or soiling.
- Ensure donations with multiple parts (e.g., lamps and lampshades) are kept together.
- Separate incoming donations by category (e.g., glass, wares, shoes) according to company standards when unloading trucks.
- Lift heavy objects by hand or using lift devices and/or employee assistance.
- Ride in vehicles (trucks) to assist drivers with loading and unloading cargo, including moving items by hand, pushing or pulling carts, racks, pallet jacks, and hand trucks from residences, businesses, Donation Service Centers, and Goodwill Stores.
- Frequently enter and exit truck cab and cargo box.
- Transport processed donations to the appropriate Production Department, occasionally using the freight elevator.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, transferring trash from work areas to compactors and large trash receptacles.
- Follow all policies, procedures, and directives to ensure the safety of personnel and property.
- Work collaboratively with Workforce Development and Social Services to provide client services.
- Properly wear and maintain all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Maintain agency confidentiality; violation may result in immediate dismissal.
- Comply with all health, safety, fire standards, and local, state, and federal regulations (WISHA & OSHA).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Schedule
- Must be available to work any combination of 5 days between Monday through Sunday for an 8-hour shift.
- Must be able to work flexible hours and days, including weekends.
- Occasional overtime may be required.
