Material Handler, GWA- 2nd Shift

About the role

The General Warehouse Associate is responsible for picking, scanning, labeling, moving, staging, replenishing, and stacking product. This individual is also responsible for counting and inspecting product and notifying leadership when there are damages or discrepancies. Associates are accountable for the safe and efficient operation of all equipment and will be expected to perform all duties as assigned. As part of the DSV team, Associates are expected to meet company objectives in the areas of performance, safety, and quality.

Responsibilities

• Picking Responsibilities: Use a pallet jack to accurately pick orders to fulfill client demands. Efficiently and accurately pick products and stage in the appropriate areas. Stack, package, band, shrink wrap, and label products as determined by client requirements. All picking functions will be processed as defined by the Standard Operating Procedures.
• Quality Control Responsibilities: Use appropriate documentation to ensure all products and orders are received, handled, and shipped correctly. Verify that products and/or orders meet quality standards, including reporting any damages or discrepancies. Stack, package, shrink wrap, and label products. All quality control functions will be processed as defined by the Standard Operating Procedures.
• Safety, Housekeeping, and Compliance: Execute all safety protocols and accomplish job tasks in a manner that promotes safety. Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the facility, including a clean, neat, orderly work area and assist in security of the warehouse. Comply with all Standard Operating Procedures, corporate and site-specific policies, safety rules, and OSHA/SDS Standards.
• Equipment Operation: Operate equipment such as pallet jacks safely and efficiently. Responsible for the upkeep of equipment and reporting of equipment problems. Follow prescribed work methods.
• Maintenance: Perform or assist in building, grounds, and equipment maintenance as assigned.
• Other Duties: Work overtime as dictated by business whether mandatory or voluntary. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• Ability to work in unregulated temperatures within the warehouse during warmer and colder months (mild to moderate).
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to accomplish job tasks in a timely manner with minimal supervision or guidance.
• Ability to effectively adapt to change and thrive in a stimulating, fast-paced work environment.

Skills

• Language Skills: English (reading, writing, verbal).
• Mathematical Skills: Basic to intermediate level to verify quantities of product, count inventory, or perform other duties associated with handling, storing, and distributing client products.

Preferred Qualifications

• 6 months experience working in a warehouse/logistics/distribution environment.
• Current or prior MHE certification.

• Ability to Lift/Carry and Push/Pull 21-50 pounds.
• Reach above shoulder, reach outward, squat, or kneel.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee rarely is exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.

Pay

The expected hourly pay is $15.92 plus a $1.50 shift differential. Actual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors, including relevant experience, skills, education or certifications, and geographic location, consistent with applicable laws and company policy.
