Material Handler (Forklift Operator)

About the role

Owens Corning is seeking a Material Handler (Forklift Operator) to join our team in North Platte, NE. This role involves transporting product and raw materials within the manufacturing facility safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Reads/interprets shipping schedules, stages doors, sorts by length, width, customer, core type to create correct stacks for shipping
• Stages for shipping once wrapped
• Conduct pre-shift inspection of the forklift to ensure safety and operational compliance
• Provide safe operation of forklift throughout the facility. Abide by all safety rules and regulations required with forklift operation
• Pull all production wrap lines as required
• Pay attention to detail when pulling items from Warehouse based on work order
• Must be able to work extended hours and overtime as needed if business need requires
• Replace pallets/runners as necessary to maintain a safe working environment
• Must understand all shipping documents in order to understand the space required for product
• Perform other related duties as assigned, which may not be specifically listed in the job description
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Prior forklift operation in manufacturing environment
• 2-3 Years in the field or related area
• Solid teamwork abilities
• Communicate, in English, in a clear and effective manner
• Able to multi-task
• Work independently, as well as part of a team, and have shift flexibility

Qualifications

• Self-driven, accountable, high integrity, open communicator, strong work ethic
• Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field
• Intermediate computer skills in programs such as MS Word, MS Excel and Outlook, with fast and accurate data entry skills

• Ability to mount and dismount forklift multiple times per day
• Forklift knowledge and safety procedures
• Ability to work independently and effectively in a team environment
• Strong analytical skills
• Ability to organize and maintain detailed records
• Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and have ability to multi-task

Pay

The hourly pay rate range for this position is 24.64 + shift differential and benefits. Base pay will vary within the range depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This information is specific to North Platte and may not be applicable to other locations.

2nd Shift 5:00pm-3:30am Monday - Thursday
