Summary Description
While reporting to the Shipping Supervisor, the Material Handler Level I is responsible for safely operating material handling equipment and supporting shipping and inventory operations. This role plays a key part in ensuring accurate shipments, inventory control, and safe material movement throughout the facility.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Use scan guns to accurately track and record inventory locations
- Pull finished goods and stage materials for shipment
- Verify counts to fulfill shipping orders accurately
- Print and apply labels to outgoing pallets
- Assist with year-end inventory and cycle counts
- Perform trailer lockout procedures, truck inspections, and freight loading
- Print and process releases for outgoing shipments
- Create bills of lading (BOLs) and related shipping documentation
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment
- Perform forklift safety inspections at the start of each shift in compliance with OSHA standards
- Follow all plant safety and food safety procedures
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Qualifications
- Previous forklift and material handling experience in a manufacturing environment
- Safe handling of raw materials and finished products
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
- Basic computer and scanning system skills
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
- Comfortable standing, walking, lifting, and operating equipment throughout the shift
- Can lift up to 50 lbs
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to coach and support team members when needed
