Responsibilities
- Receive, fill, and ship products accurately and efficiently, ensuring safe and timely transport to customers and other store locations.
- Perform various warehouse functions, including receiving, order fulfillment, product picking, wrapping and packing, stock replenishment, customer will call, and inventory cycle counts.
- Drive company vehicles, sequence routes, verify orders, load and unload orders, handle returns, and share customer feedback.
- Maintain and repair company vehicles and warehouse equipment.
- Operate power equipment (e.g., electric pallet jack, walkie rider, sit-down forklift) safely to locate, put away, stack, and move products to correct storage locations daily. Tasks include stocking, filling bin boxes, facing cartons, checking for product mixing, and rotating product.
- Receive product by unloading trucks using forklifts, pallet jacks, or by hand.
- Inspect shipments for damage, verify quantities against packing lists, and complete necessary paperwork for reimbursements or discrepancies.
- Ensure all products have verified bar code labels and readable Johnstone stock numbers by scanning products, printing labels, resolving discrepancies, and completing paperwork.
- Fill orders by picking and packing items into cartons, stacking them to minimize damage, scanning items, and completing necessary paperwork.
- Document hazardous material shipments by labeling cartons correctly and completing required paperwork.
- Prepare orders for shipment by palletizing, wrapping, loading trucks, and placing packing lists in the last skid.
- Maintain accuracy and efficiency standards, following all standard operating procedures.
- Participate in inventory cycle counts and related projects as assigned.
- Assist in the maintenance and upkeep of warehouse machinery and equipment.
- Maintain a safe work environment by following safety rules, wearing protective equipment, and reporting concerns promptly.
- Access Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) as needed and maintain required certifications (e.g., hazardous materials, forklift).
- Maintain professional and courteous communication with customers and coworkers.
Driving Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional customer service through accurate and timely delivery of products.
- Serve as a key field contact for gathering customer service and delivery expectations.
- Safely operate company vehicles and equipment in compliance with DOT, state, federal, and company standards.
- Maintain cleanliness of the truck, cab, box, and assigned work areas.
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on assigned vehicles/equipment; report defects or repair needs promptly.
- Load and unload trucks, verifying deliveries against sales and transfer orders.
- Prepare routes, follow schedules, and meet deadlines for delivery, shipping, receiving, and related tasks.
- Drive straight body vehicles, including box trucks, to deliver supplies to customers' places of business, job sites, or other Johnstone locations.
- Maintain communication with supervisors for expedited delivery instructions, adhering to safety requirements.
- Report delivery, traffic, safety, and customer issues to supervisors immediately.
- Record sales and/or delivery information, complete manifests with pictures, signatures, and returns via iPad or manual methods.
- Return vehicles at the end of the day, ensuring they are fully fueled, secured, and all required paperwork (e.g., driver logs, gas receipts, inspection logs) is completed.
- Perform all other assigned duties.
Requirements
- Possess a valid driver’s license at all times and meet all state and federal driving regulations.
- High School diploma or GED.
