Material Handler/Driver

Responsibilities

• Receiving, filling, and shipping products accurately and efficiently.
• Ensuring the safe transporting and arrival of products, in a timely manner, to customers and other store locations.
• Driving, route sequencing, order verification, loading and unloading orders into company/customer vehicle, return service, sharing feedback from customers, as well as maintenance, upkeep, and repairs of the company vehicles and warehouse equipment.
• Operating basic power equipment (i.e. electric pallet, walkie rider, sit-down forklift) in a safe and efficient manner to locate, put away, stack, and move checked-in products to correct storage locations on a daily basis.
• Receiving product by unloading trucks using forklift, pallet jack, electric pallet jack, or by hand.
• Verifying shipments received are in good condition and accurate by inspecting freight for damage and signing freight bills; verifying quantity ordered versus quantity received; checking all shipments against packing lists; and completing necessary paperwork for reimbursements or discrepancies.
• Scanning products, printing labels, resolving labeling discrepancies, and completing necessary paperwork.
• Packing orders by picking, packing items into cartons, and stacking them in a manner that minimizes damage, entering items into scan gun, and completing necessary paperwork.
• Documenting the shipment of hazardous materials by labeling cartons correctly and completing necessary paperwork.
• Preparing orders by preparing trucks for shipments; palletizing and wrapping orders; loading pallets and pieces into trucks; placing packing list in last skid; and completing necessary paperwork.
• Maintaining current accuracy and efficiency standards and following all standard operating procedures.
• Participating in inventory cycle counts and other related projects in current location and/or the market as assigned.

• Serves as a key field contact for gathering accurate customer service and delivery expectations.
• Safely operates company vehicles and equipment consistent with DOT, state, federal, and company standards.
• Maintains cleanliness of inside of truck, cab, box, and all assigned work areas.
• Performs routine inspections and preventative maintenance on assigned vehicle(s)/equipment; refers defects, issues, or needs for repairs to the supervisor promptly.
• Loads and unloads trucks. Checks and verifies deliveries against sales and transfer orders.
• Prepares routes and follows schedules and deadlines for delivery, shipping, receiving, and other related tasks.
• Drives straight body vehicles including box truck to deliver supplies and equipment to customer’s place of business, job site, or other Johnstone store locations.
• Immediately communicates delivery, traffic, safety, and customer issues to their supervisor.
