About the role
The COS Material Handler I is responsible for receiving, filling, and shipping products accurately and efficiently. This role ensures all products are readily available and necessary paperwork is completed. Duties may include various warehouse functions such as receiving, order fulfillment, product picking, wrapping and packing, stock replenishment, customer will call, and inventory cycle counts.
Responsibilities
- Operate power equipment (e.g., electric pallet jack, walkie rider, sit-down forklift) safely and efficiently to locate, put away, stack, and move products to correct storage locations daily.
- Stock, fill bin boxes, face cartons, check for product mixing, and rotate product as needed.
- Monitor stock on shelves or bins, replenish stock from reserves, and maintain control of products in reserve or will call areas.
- Receive product by unloading trucks using forklift, pallet jack, electric pallet jack, or by hand.
- Inspect incoming shipments for damage, verify quantities, check against packing lists, and complete necessary paperwork for reimbursements or discrepancies.
- Ensure all products have verified bar code labels and readable stock numbers by scanning products, printing labels, resolving discrepancies, and completing paperwork.
- Fill orders by picking products, packing items into cartons, stacking to minimize damage, entering items into a scan gun, and completing necessary paperwork.
- Document shipment of hazardous materials by labeling cartons correctly and completing necessary paperwork.
- Prepare orders for shipment by palletizing, wrapping, loading trucks, and completing necessary paperwork.
- Maintain accuracy and efficiency standards, follow standard operating procedures, and participate in inventory cycle counts as assigned.
- Maintain a safe work environment by following safety rules, maintaining equipment, and reporting concerns promptly.
- Wear protective equipment according to company policies and access Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) as needed.
- Maintain required certifications for hazardous materials, forklift operation, and other relevant areas.
- Communicate professionally with customers and coworkers, maintaining a helpful and courteous attitude.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- 0–1 year of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Forklift certification required, or willingness to obtain on the job.
- Ability to read, add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to work safely in all job tasks and lift, push, pull, and maneuver large/heavy products or equipment within safety guidelines.
- Ability to follow instructions and procedures, organize and prioritize work, and attend to details.
- Ability to work in a team-based environment and complete routine paperwork.
- Proficiency in using RF equipment and ERP software.
- English proficiency (written and spoken) is required for safety regulations and accurate communication.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with a picker, forklift, RF scanner, and inventory management systems.
- Knowledge of HVAC wholesale industry principles and practices.
- Previous experience with OSHA and safety regulations and procedures.
Pay
$30,000–$45,000 per year.
