The Wenger Group is a leading Northeast family-owned food, agricultural products, and agricultural services organization headquartered in Pennsylvania. We provide animal nutrition and feeds; specialty protein production, processing, and marketing; on-farm protein production services; grain, fertilizer, and ingredient procurement. Leidy's, a wholly owned subsidiary since 2022, is a 130-year-old pork company located on the family farm in Pennsylvania, originally deeded to Jacob Leidy by William Penn in 1753. Responsibilities
- Material Movement & Inventory Support
- Transport raw meat, packaging materials, ingredients, and finished goods throughout the facility using pallet jacks, forklifts, or by hand.
- Stage materials for production lines according to daily schedules.
- Ensure accurate rotation of products using FIFO (First In, First Out) principles.
- Assist with receiving shipments, unloading trucks, counting inventory, and verifying paperwork.
- Replenish packaging supplies and ingredients on the production floor.
- Production & Warehouse Coordination
- Work closely with production, warehouse, and shipping teams to maintain steady workflow.
- Move finished goods to designated cold storage or staging areas.
- Support order picking, pallet building, and preparation for outbound shipments.
- Notify supervisors of material shortages or inconsistencies in inventory.
- Food Safety, Quality & Compliance
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) requirements.
- Maintain cleanliness of storage areas, coolers, and docks.
- Handle all products safely to avoid contamination or damage.
- Accurately document lot numbers, quantities, and product movements as required for traceability.
- Equipment Operation & Safety
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and material-handling equipment safely and efficiently.
- Perform basic equipment checks and report any mechanical issues immediately.
- Follow all facility safety rules, PPE requirements, and OSHA guidelines.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous material-handling, warehouse, or production experience (food/meat industry a plus).
- Ability to work in cold environments (typically 35–45°F).
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and handle repetitive physical tasks.
- Experience with forklifts or pallet jacks (certification preferred or company-provided).
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work collaboratively.
Work Environment
- Meat processing facility with exposure to refrigerated areas.
- Fast-paced, physical work environment.
- Required use of PPE such as gloves, hairnets, and protective clothing.
Preferred
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus but not required.
