Material Handler

As a Material Handler, your primary responsibility is to ensure the efficient flow of materials throughout the facility. You will support receiving, inspecting, and storing incoming materials and be responsible for picking, packing, and kitting orders for work centers or shipments. Attention to detail is key, as is accurately tracking inventory, following documentation processes, and maintaining organized storage areas.
Responsibilities
- Exemplify and promote a culture of safety excellence
- Receive and store materials and sub-assemblies in designated areas
- Complete picking orders and materials for other various departments according to documentation (job packets, pick lists and material requirements)
- Supports and performs daily cycle counting and inventory accuracy following process
- Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and SAFETY, environmental standards
- Receive, locate, kit, & distribute materials according to schedule and routing
- Receive and issue materials through ERP company computer system
- Support and participate in regular cycle counts
- Support and participate in annual physical inventory
- Adhere to all Super Steel and OSHA safety-related work rules and procedures
- Good organizational skills (Super Steel 7S) are required
- Required to attend and achieve forklift and crane use certifications
- Must identify and correctly address issues as they arise promptly
- Must be able to adhere to strict deadlines
- Other duties as assigned or required
Qualifications
- Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measurement, including whole numbers, fractions, and decimals
- Must be able to read and use scale, ruler, tape measure, and similar
- Proficient in using MS Office (Excel and Word at a minimum)
- Ability to read and interpret job/work orders and similar
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions, specifications, and memos
- Ability to properly clock in/out and complete all job-related paperwork
- Ability to effectively communicate with other employees of the organization
- Effective oral and written communication skills are essential

Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; occasionally required to sit and talk; frequently required to hear, walk, and continuously stand and reach with hands and arms. The employee may lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Continuously exposed to manufacturing noise.
Protective Clothing Requirement: Employee Safety is paramount at Super Steel. This position requires safety glasses and steel-toed boots with metatarsal guards and (where required) hearing protection always worn while on the factory floor. Occasionally, the need may arise for other protective clothing that Super Steel will provide.
