Material Handler

Brief Description

The Material Handler supports the transformer winding process by safely handling, staging, transporting, and organizing materials and other components. This role ensures timely and accurate delivery of materials to winding workstations, maintains inventory accuracy, and contributes to a clean and efficient production environment.

• Supports winding operations by transporting raw materials (e.g., copper/aluminum wire, insulation, cores) from storage to winding stations using forklifts, pallet jacks, or other material handling equipment.
• Maintains inventory accuracy by labeling, storing, and organizing materials according to company procedures and safety standards.
• Assists with kitting activities by preparing and staging material packages for specific transformer jobs.
• Communicates with winding operators, planners, and supervisors regarding material needs or discrepancies.
• Maintains safe, clean, and orderly workstations by monitoring material stock levels and notifying the supervisor of potential shortages.
• Fulfills other assigned duties as needed.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED preferred.
• One year of experience in material handling equipment (forklift, crane, etc.) preferred.
• WMS (Warehouse Management System) experience preferred.
• OSHA10 certification preferred.
• A proven track record in safety excellence is required.
• Adheres to all safety and environmental compliance regulations set by the organization.
• Notifies management immediately of any safety concerns, hazardous conditions, or injuries.
• Meets department and production goals set by supervisor.
• Ensures product quality meets company and client expectations.
• Possesses a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, problem-solving abilities, cooperative attitude, strong attention to detail, and can work in a team environment.
• Adheres to the company’s employee handbook policies and embodies the organization’s core values.
• Completes company compliance and safety training when required.
• Works a flexible schedule and works under pressure in a fast-paced work environment.
• Physical requirements include lifting 50 lbs, standing and walking for long durations, bending, squatting, and kneeling multiple times, climbing ladders, balancing, and working in varying temperatures.
