About the role
This position supports manufacturing operations by ensuring accurate, timely movement and control of raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods. The Material Handler works closely with Production, Purchasing, Quality, and Shipping/Receiving to ensure materials are available, properly labeled, and compliant with company Quality and Safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Maintain inventory by ensuring proper identification, labeling, serial/lot control, and proper storage in warehouse locations.
- Kit, stage, and deliver materials to production lines based on work orders and production schedules.
- Issue and transact materials accurately in ERP/MRP systems.
- Locate materials by pulling and verifying items listed on Manufacturing Orders.
- Perform cycle counts, root-cause analysis of discrepancies, and support physical inventories.
- Operate metal cutting equipment (e.g., shear, band saw) to size material when necessary.
- Put away parts by verifying part numbers, serial/lot info, quantity, and placing materials into locations.
- Prepare finished goods for shipment by ensuring items are properly pulled and packaged to protect goods from damage during transit in accordance with contract terms and conditions.
- Ship finished goods to end users with carriers and freight companies, ensuring all shipping documentation is correct and compliant.
- Maintain material-handling equipment by completing pre-use inspections and reporting necessary repairs.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe material storage areas.
- Safely operate company vehicles (e.g., van, box truck) to perform scheduled local pickups and deliveries in compliance with all traffic laws, company policies, and DOT requirements (as applicable).
- Comply with safety regulations, quality standards, and company procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Basic Computer Skills (ERP systems, barcode scanners, Excel, etc.).
- 3-5 years' experience in warehousing and material handling operations.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50 lbs.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Data Entry Skills (Costpoint experience a plus).
- Forklift experience.
