Material Handler

About the Role

A Materials Handler ensures the efficient flow of materials and supplies within our manufacturing facility and inventory warehouse.

Responsibilities

• Examine shipment contents and compare them with records (manifests, invoices, or orders) to verify accuracy of incoming deliveries.
• Maintain and update accounts of stock and inventory.
• Convey purchasing requirements and track availability of products in short supply.
• Collaborate with internal departments to locate missing packages, correct incorrect deliveries, and replace damaged goods.
• Ensure orderly production and distribution by pulling orders from inventory, delivering, and staging production materials and supplies.
• Deliver or route materials to departments using hand trucks, conveyors, or sorting bins.
• Perform material transactions within our ERP system as needed.
• Conduct monthly cycle counts to ensure inventory accuracy.
• Assist teams in quarterly inventory of materials within the plant.
• Place materials into designated locations within the materials warehouse.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 2 years of materials handling in a warehouse preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of manufacturing experience.
• Experience with material transactions in an ERP system preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.

• Production and Processing: Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and techniques for maximizing manufacturing efficiency.
• Administrative: Knowledge of office procedures and systems, including word processing, file management, and workplace terminology.
• Speaking: Ability to convey information effectively.
• Coordination: Adjusting actions in relation to others’ actions.
• Critical Thinking: Using logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of solutions or approaches.
• Judgment and Decision Making: Evaluating costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.

Physical & Mental Requirements

• Ability to operate in a production-driven environment and meet required performance standards.
• Physical activities include reaching, bending, kneeling, stooping, pulling, carrying, balancing, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, feeling, and repetitive motions.
• Visual requirements: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
• Frequently lift up to 30 lbs; infrequently lift 50 lbs or more.
• Required to stand, walk, or otherwise be mobile.
• Ability to manage stressful situations as they arise.
