About the role
The Material Handler ensures the material flow of parts aligns with production flow and quality criteria by selecting and employing suitable employees while complying with all safety laws, regulations, and rules.
Responsibilities
- Ensure machines in assigned department are stocked with all parts needed to run.
- Put away all parts after a run to prevent mixing.
- Scale tubs (unless machine is set up for quantity) and prepare sheets for the next job.
- Scan washers to machines and update status in PROD when delivered.
- Adjust returned washer quantities and store them in racks.
- Organize WIP and locate lost bins as needed.
- Work closely with new drivers in your department released to the production floor.
- Complete pre-shift check sheets and report defects immediately.
- Follow all safety standards: proper PPE, steel-toe boots, seat belt use, and stopping at intersections.
- Manage product flow in the plant and report issues.
- Follow Stock/Status sheets and FIFO processes.
- Maintain close cooperation with Technical Quality, Customer Service, Warehouse, and MRP teams.
- Supply packaging material where required.
- Encourage continuous improvement of internal logistics product flow.
- Monitor shop floor activities in assigned departments and WIP.
- Optimize the scanning process and Task Management system.
- Use computers to locate needed wire, bring it to the Header, and load it on the saddle.
- Participate in group meetings, results, and target discussions.
- Monitor 6S in your work area.
- Check water levels on Raymonds daily.
- Understand OSP loading/unloading, shipping/receiving, and customer portals/invoice processes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 5 years of shipping experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong communication skills to interact with employees at all levels, customers, and drivers.
- Proficiency in MS Office and SAP.
- Problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to handle pressure and stress while supporting machine operators.
- Forklift and Raymond licenses (issued after successful training).
- Ability to work any shift.

- Find work instructions on the computer.
- Knowledge of SAP functions relevant to the job:
- ZPP040 – Batch determination
- ZPP030 – Workers cockpit – material
- ZPP028 – Scale material to next job
- ZPP026 – Loading material
- ZPP027 – Unloading material
- ZPP036 – Purchase order – Loading/Unloading
- Migo - SAP
Environmental Exposures
- Noise from machinery (if in warehouse).
- Noise from truck engines (if in warehouse).
- Exposure to exhaust and carbon monoxide (in winter months).
- Potential spills requiring proper cleanup.
Responsible for complying with MISOSHA regulations and standards, including not damaging, moving, interfering with, or removing any safety-related items provided.
Continuous Improvement
Annual training completion as per the training matrix.
