About the role
A material handler is responsible for receiving, storing, picking, labeling and transporting materials throughout the facility to support operational and customer needs. They safely operate material handling equipment, maintain accurate inventory records, and ensure materials are properly identified and staged. Their role is critical to maintaining efficient workflow, inventory accuracy, and on-time production and distribution activities.
Responsibilities
- Picking, shipping, and receiving products while following safety and quality procedures.
- Operating forklifts and pallet jacks to move materials efficiently.
- Using RF handheld devices to keep inventory accurate and organized.
- Inspecting goods for quality and ensuring everything matches invoices and purchase orders.
- Loading/unloading supplies and finished products with precision.
Requirements
- Experience working in a distribution or warehouse environment (1-3+ years preferred).
- Certified forklift operator with skills in both battery and propane forklifts.
- A keen eye for detail and a commitment to following safety procedures.
- Team player with excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Basic math and computer skills to handle inventory and logistics.
- Ability to lift and move items individually or as part of a team.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent experience in distribution or warehousing.
- Forklift certification and the ability to operate both battery and propane forklifts.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with others.
- Attention to detail and a focus on safety and accuracy.
- Basic math and computer skills, and the ability to speak, read, and write English.
