Job Summary & Responsibilities
The Material Handler is responsible for loading various feed and fuel products into trucks and rail cars. Duties include:
- Loading using mechanical equipment, meters, and scales
- Assisting with truck unloading functions
- Grading grain products or biomass as needed
- Operating large machinery and equipment
- Maintaining a clean work area
- Completing HAZMAT paperwork when necessary
- Maintaining confined space procedures
- Performing preventative maintenance tasks
- Working extended hours as needed
- Running the scale house and learning required software applications
- Maintaining a safe and ethical work environment
- Ensuring food safety and quality
Qualifications & Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent
- No experience required for Material Handler I
- Documented successful performance as Material Handler I or equivalent work experience required for Material Handler II
- Experience operating heavy machinery, skid loaders, or associated equipment
- Experience in truck loading and unloading
- DOT certification preferred
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn new programs
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Work at extreme heights, in confined spaces, and in extreme temperatures
- Use various hand tools, skid loaders, scoop shovels, pipe wrenches, impact wrenches, air hoses, and shuttle wagons
- Operate machinery such as payloaders and Trackmobiles
- Frequent lifting up to 40 lbs, carrying up to 95 lbs, pulling up to 120 lbs
- Reach, bend, climb, kneel, and crouch
- Occasionally grip with a force of up to 40 lbs
