Material Handler
About the role
This position is located at the Pantex Plant in Amarillo, TX, and is part of the Inventory Management organization. The job requires operating various material handling equipment, such as forklifts, stock-pickers, buses, trucks, and cars, to transport, load, and unload materials and containers.
Responsibilities
- Operate material handling equipment, such as forklifts, stock-pickers, buses, trucks, and cars
- Transport, load, and unload materials and containers
- Stack and arrange materials, and stock and store containers
- Record, verify, and maintain paperwork and computer systems to accomplish job assignments
- Package, strap, and seal materials as needed
- Ship, receive, and store merchandise and materials
- Operate automated warehouse storage systems and perform inventories
- Maintain a high degree of quality and efficiency, and exercise prescribed safety and security measures
- Work harmoniously with co-workers, representatives of other departments, and outside agencies
- Maintain housekeeping and cleanliness of assigned area and equipment
- Ensure compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements and other governing documentation
- Maintain knowledge of applicable Federal, State, Department of Energy (DOE), Corporate, and Plant rules, regulations, and policies
Requirements
- Must be able to perform all duties and functions outlined above
- Must meet initial employment requirements
- Must be able to read, write, and comprehend applicable written and oral instructions
- Must be physically fit to perform job functions as determined by Medical Evaluation
- Must have relevant experience operating a forklift, either through work experience or completion of an accredited forklift training course
- May be required to possess a valid Texas Commercial Drivers License (CDL) and have an acceptable driving record
- Must successfully complete a Self-Assessment (for external applicants only)
Qualifications
A High School diploma or General Education Development (GED) is required. The applicant must also meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2A, which can be satisfied following employment.
Skills
The ideal candidate will have experience operating material handling equipment, such as forklifts, and will be able to perform duties with a high degree of quality and efficiency. The candidate must also be able to work harmoniously with co-workers and maintain a knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, and policies.
Functional Requirements
