About the role
Perform safe and efficient equipment operations for loading, moving, shipping and ticketing ash products at the Power Plant in Sutherland. $1200 hiring bonus.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Abide by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely.
- Operate rubber tire front end loader, motor grader and semi-truck to haul ash inside the plant area to the OPPD landfill or storage building.
- Load ash into market trucks &/or rail cars.
- Assure appropriate tickets are written for orders according to requirements.
- Work with appropriate personnel to identify and plan daily operations.
- Keep ash product within the designated landfill areas according to standards established within the department.
- Maintain the shop & equipment according to safety standards.
- Clean shop, office, restroom, scale rooms and equipment on a regular basis.
- Check brakes, tires, springs, engine oil, etc. on a daily basis. Grease, change oil, change tires, and perform other maintenance as required.
Position Requirements and Education
- A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
- Previous experience in a construction &/or construction products related field is desired.
- Must have previous experience operating construction machinery or equipment—front end loader, motor grader and a semi-tractor.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and have a good driving record.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; use hands & fingers to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50-75 pounds to shoulder height.
- Must be able to climb on and off, in and out of the loader, motor grader and truck as often as required to fill orders for delivery and/or landfill of coal combustion products.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Requires a Background Check and a pre-employment physical with drug screen and a criminal background check.
- While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions, may be extreme hot or cold.
- Must be able to climb to a height of 100 feet. Must also deal with precarious places and vibration.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
- Day hours are generally 6 am to 6 pm, averaging 40 to 50 hours a week.
- Hours may vary based on daily loading requirements.
- Occasional Saturday and Sunday work may be required to load market trucks.
- This is a tobacco free campus.
