Material Handler
About the role
As a Material Handler at Ascentek, you will play a crucial role in ensuring smooth operations within the warehouse by receiving, storing, and distributing materials and products. You will also be responsible for expediting the unloading of materials from trailers, reading production work tickets, picking and staging orders, and maintaining a clean and orderly work area.
Responsibilities
- Expedite the unloading of material from trailers, verifying item numbers and checking for discrepancies
- Receive PO’s using a handheld computerized Warehouse Management System
- Read Production Work Tickets to determine items to be picked and staged in the Work Order staging area
- Pick and stage orders by interpreting customer-specific work instructions
- Participate in daily cycle counting program
- Maintain clean and orderly work area and warehouse
- Verify that the quality of outbound loads meets customer expectations
- Adhere to the company’s safety standards and enforce safety regulations
- Ensure adherence to and maintenance of the company’s ISO standards
Requirements
- A minimum of 4 years’ experience of forklift operations and training
- Experience using a computerized Warehouse Management System
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
Skills
- Good command of the English language and the ability to read and understand written instructions
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations to accurately complete job tasks
- Effective communication skills to aid in satisfying customer requirements
- Organizational and prioritization skills to manage job tasks and requirements
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions both written and oral in English
- Basic knowledge of basic tools, various material handler equipment, and hand-held scanners

Schedule
The position is hourly, full-time (First Shift), Monday - Friday, 6:00 am - 2:30 pm.
Physical, Mental, Environmental Demands
- Frequent lifting and carrying materials up to 50 lbs.
- Standing, walking, bending, and operating material handling equipment for extended periods
- Exposure to warehouse temperature changes, noise, and moving machinery
- PPE required including gloves, steel-toed shoes, and safety glasses
