Material Handler

Responsibilities

• Use forklifts, hand trucks, hoists, overhead cranes, and other equipment to move materials within the facility.
• Load and unload material onto and from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves.
• Safely move materials and place them in the correct location.
• Supply production areas with needed materials from inventory.
• Maintain material handling equipment and materials in a safe, clean, and working order; inform management of any equipment defects or maintenance needs.
• Open packages and containers using cutters and other tools.
• Collaborate with supply chain, quality, and production departments to ensure company needs are met.
• Advise Lead/Supervisor if inventory is insufficient to carry out processes.
• Follow the plan and schedule defined by the Lead/Supervisor.
• Adhere to 6S methodology and use lean manufacturing principles to optimize space and maintain cleanliness and organization in production and inventory areas.
• Provide support to Shipping/Receiving and production areas as needed.
• Ensure tasks comply with organizational requirements for quality management, environmental, health, and safety standards, policies, and procedures.
• Comply with all company policies, procedures, and rules.
• Complete additional duties and work in other areas as assigned, including housekeeping tasks.
• Be at your workstation on time at the start of the shift and when breaks end.
