Job Summary
About the role
The Material Handler supports production operations by accurately picking, transporting, and delivering raw materials, components, and finished goods throughout the facility.
Responsibilities
- Pick and deliver raw materials, components, and supplies to production lines according to production requirements.
- Operate stand-up forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
- Utilize handheld scanners and inventory systems to complete material transactions accurately.
- Stage materials and replenish production lines to minimize downtime and support production goals.
- Verify material quantities, part numbers, and locations when picking and delivering materials.
- Properly palletize, wrap, label, and prepare materials and finished goods for storage or shipment.
- Load, unload, and transport materials throughout the facility as required.
- Maintain inventory accuracy by following established material handling and inventory control procedures.
- Communicate material shortages, inventory discrepancies, quality concerns, and production needs to Leads and Supervisors.
- Perform daily housekeeping activities and maintain work areas in accordance with 5S standards.
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and quality requirements.
- Report unsafe conditions, equipment concerns, and quality issues to leadership promptly.
- Obtain and maintain certification on forklifts and other powered industrial equipment as required.
- Support production, warehouse, and receiving operations as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Materials Supervisor.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
- Previous warehouse, manufacturing, or material handling experience is preferred.
- Forklift experience is preferred.
- Ability to obtain and maintain forklift certification is preferred.
- Basic computer and handheld scanner experience is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills are required.
- Ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment is essential.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills are required.
