Material Handler

About the role

The primary responsibility of a Material Handler is to move, sort, restock, and package materials and items within a warehouse setting. Duties include loading and operating forklifts, maintaining inventory, and ensuring compliance with company and OSHA policies.

Responsibilities

• Move materials and items from receiving or storage areas to shipping or to other designated areas
• Sort and place materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, or product code
• Restock material in assigned bin location; or fill requisitions for materials and distribute items to designated delivery trucks
• Stack or assemble materials into bundles and band bundles together; package orders for shipping, pick up or truck delivery
• Measure, cut and package material
• Complete Material Movement paperwork
• Open boxes, crates, and other containers
• Examine stock for deterioration and defects, and report findings
• Absorb and assist in counting of physical inventory
• Inspect Raymond forklift daily for damages and report findings
• Load and operate Raymond forklifts; load trucks for next day deliveries
• Keep warehouse and work area organized at all times
• Comply with Company and OSHA policies; participate in safety and accident preventative meetings
• Wear safety equipment at all times
• Perform facilities maintenance duties as needed
• Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs

Requirements

Experience in material handling and warehouse operations is required. Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record. Physical requirements include the ability to lift and carry heavy objects, stand for extended periods, and operate forklifts.
