Material Handler

About the role

The Dixon Group is seeking a Material Handler to join our skilled manufacturing team in Chestertown, MD. This position operates in a fast-paced, hands-on environment and supports a team that builds quality products.

Responsibilities

• Operate weight and count scale
• Outsource material from factory to warehouse on a daily basis
• Rectify inventory issues
• Create manifests for shipping to outside vendors
• Communicate with warehouse and factory shuttle drivers when material needs to move
• Work with clamp department doing material related functions to keep production flowing
• Help pre-pack department when time permits
• Help other material handlers on factory floor by taking out cardboard, empty cages, washing parts, and moving parts to the next location
• Absorb other material handling tasks as needed

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Forklift certification
• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
• Willingness to learn, follow procedures, and work independently
• Reliable, team-oriented mindset with great time management
• Strong organizational skills and a sense of accountability to every task
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods

• Willingness to learn new equipment and processes
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Attention to detail and accuracy in work
• Physical stamina and ability to perform manual labor

Skills

• Understanding of material handling and logistics
• Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures
• Basic computer skills for data entry and record keeping

Pay

$17 - $20 per hour + 15% Shift Differential on 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM, Monday through Friday
