Material Handler

Department: Logistics. Positions Supervised: None. FLSA Status: Non-Exempt. Reports to: Procurement & Logistics Manager.

About the role

The Material Handler will support the organization by receiving all inventory, packing, and shipping orders and providing outstanding customer service. They are a key player in the production team by ensuring that all material is staged appropriately for use in the production schedule.

Responsibilities

• Handle all materials in a safe and orderly manner according to product requirements and standard operating procedures within specified time periods independently.
• Unpack, examine, and route incoming shipments; reject and report defective or damaged items; record shortages accurately.
• Receive and process all defective parts returned for replacement or credit.
• Load and unload goods from trucks manually and by use of hand trucks and/or forklift.
• Pull, weigh, and deliver material from exact batch numbers for production with 100% accuracy.
• Employ inventory control methods to ensure accurate counts at all times.
• Record identifying product information into company database.
• Manage all outbound shipments, including preparation of paperwork, management of packaging materials inventories, packaging of product to be shipped, and arrangement of transportation to final destination with 100% accuracy.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED, or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 1–3 years of receiving experience.
• 1–3 years of packing and shipping experience.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge and experience with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
