As a Material Handler, you’re a member of an assigned production crew, reporting to the Plant Warehouse Supervisor. You will contribute to the success of Ball by observing operating principles of all assigned equipment and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for your area of responsibility. Safely and efficiently operates forklifts to unload, transport, and load materials and finished products in support of the production of high, infinitely recyclable aluminum packaging.
The Fort Atkinson plant is a high-volume, fast-paced 24/7-365 days/year manufacturing environment. Our crews work 12.25 hour days; 5:45 AM/PM - 6:00 PM/AM - 3 days on/3 days off; rotates days to nights every nine weeks.
Responsibilities
Operate forklift and coordinate products including raw materials, scrap, finished goods, packaging materials, chemicals, and other supplies. Review warehouse production planning schedule to determine duties for shipping and receiving. Ensures finished goods are properly documented for shipment. Stages and loads finished goods and materials in accordance with warehouse and production planning schedule. Coordinates all processed scrap materials at bins and hoppers. Bands and stores materials. Loads trucks as necessary.
Requirements
- Forklift experience preferred
- Experience working in a warehouse/logistics environment preferred
- Job-related experience for 1 year minimum
- High School Diploma or education equivalent
- Ability to pass an approved forklift test
Qualifications
- Planning - Effectively organizes, prioritizes, delegates, and plans workloads and resources to achieve efficient results
- Communication - Demonstrates ability to communicate clearly and effectively, establishing strong connections and providing guidance to team members
- Technical Proficiency (Forklift Operation) - Possesses or can obtain forklift certification, demonstrating competency and adherence to safety standards when operating material-handling equipment
- Operational Experience - Previous experience in warehouse, logistics, or a related manufacturing environment preferred, facilitating understanding of operational procedures and standards
- Quality Assurance and Inspection - Capable of identifying product defects through adherence to standard inspection procedures, ensuring compliance with quality guidelines
- Literacy and Comprehension- Proficient in reading, writing, and comprehending written materials clearly in the local language relevant to the role, enabling effective communication and understanding of work instructions and safety protocols
- Attention to Detail - Keen attention to detail to ensure all aspects of production meet high standards
Skills
- Ability to apply standard evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard material handling techniques, procedures, and criteria
- Must be able to handle sensitive related and proprietary information in a confidential manner
