Material Handler

About the role

As a Material Handler, you’re a member of an assigned production crew, reporting to the Plant Warehouse Supervisor. You will contribute to the success of Ball by observing operating principles of all assigned equipment and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for your area of responsibility. Safely and efficiently operate forklifts to unload, transport, and load materials and finished products in support of the production of high, infinitely recyclable aluminum packaging.

The Winter Haven plant is a high-volume, fast-paced 24/7-365 days/year manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklift and coordinate products including raw materials, scrap, finished goods, packaging materials, chemicals, and other supplies.
• Review warehouse production planning schedule to determine duties for shipping and receiving.
• Ensure finished goods are properly documented for shipment.
• Stage and load finished goods and materials in accordance with warehouse and production planning schedule.
• Coordinate all processed scrap materials at bins and hoppers.
• Band and store materials.
• Load trucks as necessary.
• Perform such individual assignments as management may direct.
• Follow company policies, procedures, practices, and standards of conduct as outlined in the Ball Corporation manuals.
• Complete required on-the-job and classroom training.
• Maintain working knowledge of proper hazardous waste management.
• Maintain professional competence, ethical integrity, knowledge, and skills.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Basic computer skills
• Ability to apply standard evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard material handling techniques, procedures, and criteria
• Ability to handle sensitive related and proprietary information in a confidential manner
• Proficient in reading, writing, and comprehending written materials clearly in the local language relevant to the role
• Possesses or can obtain forklift certification, demonstrating competency and adherence to safety standards when operating material-handling equipment
• Previous experience in warehouse, logistics, or a related manufacturing environment preferred

Schedule

• 12-hour shifts (6am-6pm / 6pm-6am) working 4 days on / 4 days off
• Schedules rotate from day to night shift every 4 weeks

Pay

Starting hourly rate: $23.59

This role will be eligible to participate in the annual incentive compensation plan.
