Material Handler
About the role
As a Material Handler, you’re a member of an assigned production crew, reporting to the Plant Warehouse Supervisor. You will contribute to the success of Ball by observing operating principles of all assigned equipment and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for your area of responsibility. The Glendale plant is a high-volume, fast-paced 24/7-365 days/year manufacturing environment.
Schedule
Crews work 12-hour shifts (6:00am-6pm/6:00pm-6am) on a 4 days on/4 days off rotation, rotating from day to night shift every 32 days.
Responsibilities
- Follow all 5S standards and job safety practices and policies including but not limited to food safety; personal protective equipment; emergency procedures.
- Operate forklift and coordinate products including raw materials, scrap, finished goods, packaging materials, chemicals, and other supplies.
- Effectively communicate with vendors, delivery drivers, and customers.
- Inspect aluminum for proper quality standards and customer specifications.
- Build positive relationships across designated team by effectively collaborating, communicating, and upholding ethical integrity.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent education.
- 1 year of work experience in an industrial environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3 or more years of operation and maintenance of forklift.
- Working knowledge of proper hazardous waste management.
- Experience using JD Edwards, AS900, or similar warehouse or ERP system.
Working Conditions
- May be subject to hot/cold working conditions.
- Loud/noisy environment.
- Standing and walking for prolonged periods of time.
- Climbing (stairs, catwalks, and other equipment as necessary).
Pay
Expected hiring rate range: $27.37/hour. This role is eligible to participate in the annual incentive compensation plan.
