Material Handler
About the role
The Material Handler supports daily warehouse and inventory operations to ensure accurate receipt, storage, movement, and shipment of materials and products. This position plays a critical role in maintaining inventory accuracy, supporting production through work order kitting, and ensuring timely shipping and receiving activities.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the development of and maintain production schedules to meet internal customer demands and production targets
- Cook with the engineering, procurement, and production teams to ensure timely availability of materials
- Monitor production progress and make adjustments as necessary to stay on schedule
- Analyze production data to identify bottlenecks and implement process improvements
- Collaborate with engineering and quality assurance to resolve production issues
- Prepare weekly and monthly production reports across several concurrent projects
- Facilitate communication between engineering, procurement, and production teams
- Participate in cross-functional team meetings to discuss production goals and strategies
- Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks as required
- Assist with receiving inspections and non-conforming material segregation when necessary
- Ensure compliance with company procedures, quality standards, and inventory control processes
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to warehouse and inventory operations
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 2+ years of experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse operations, or inventory control preferred
- Experience in a manufacturing, aerospace, defense, or production environment preferred
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems such as Deltek Costpoint or similar inventory systems preferred
- Ability to read work orders, packing slips, shipping documents, and inventory reports
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Basic computer proficiency including Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand/walk for extended periods
- Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification preferred
