Material Handler Associate II

About the role

This position offers the opportunity to gain experience within a dynamic warehouse environment as a Material Handler (Driver). Material Handlers play a crucial role in the efficient flow of goods within the warehouse, ensuring safe, timely and accurate movement of materials. Through consistent performance and successful completion of our Material Handler Certification program, individuals can advance through the tiers as they master advanced power industrial vehicles (PIV).

Responsibilities

• Transport materials between designated locations within the warehouse, including receiving, storage, production areas, and shipping docks.
• Load and unload materials from trucks and other vehicles using appropriate equipment.
• Stack, unstack, and move pallets, boxes, and other materials.
• Maintain accurate inventory records of materials received, stored, and shipped.
• Conduct pre-operational inspections of PIVs to ensure they are in safe working condition.
• Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to supervisors immediately.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
• Work in a fast-paced environment, stand/walk up to 10 hours a day and push/pull/lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
• Have consistent and regular attendance and adherence to schedule.
• Must be able to work mandatory overtime when assigned.
• Perform daily work activities in a safe manner while following established location safety guidelines and OSHA regulations.
• May be required to perform non-material operation duties within the Associate-Fulfillment Center role as needed by the business.

Level II PIV responsibilities

• Driver can work at heights up to thirty (30) feet.
• Successful completion of Material Handling Certification including written exam and demonstration of safe operating techniques.
• Order Picker: Operation of PIV with forks designed to reach high racks.
• Turret Truck: Operation of a PIV with forks designed for very narrow aisles (VNA).

Requirements

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Prior experience in a warehouse or fulfillment center environment strongly preferred.

Education and/or Certifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Successful completion of Material Handling Certification including written exam and demonstration of safe operating techniques.

Physical and Mental Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit and use hands to finger, handle or touch. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.
