Material Handler and Driver

Responsibilities

  • Receives, fills, and ships products accurately and efficiently.
  • Ensures the safe transporting and arrival of products in a timely manner to customers and other store locations.
  • May be assigned various warehouse job functions including receiving, order fulfillment, product picking, wrapping and packing, stock replenishment, customer will call, and inventory cycle counts.
  • Operates basic power equipment to locate, put away, stack, and move checked-in products.
  • Prepares orders by preparing trucks for shipments, palletizing and wrapping orders, loading pallets and pieces into trucks, placing packing list in last skid, and completing necessary paperwork.
  • Maintains current accuracy and efficiency standards and follows all standard operating procedures.
  • Participates in inventory cycle counts and other related projects.
  • Maintains a safe work environment by working in a safe manner, following safety rules, and maintaining a clean work area.
  • Prompts reports any safety or maintenance concerns to supervisors.
  • Maintains professional communications when interacting with customers and coworkers.
  • Serves as a key field contact for gathering accurate customer service and delivery expectations.
  • Maintains cleanliness of inside of truck, cab, box, and all assigned work areas.
  • Performs routine inspections and preventative maintenance on assigned vehicle(s)/equipment; refers defects, issues, or needs for repairs to the supervisor promptly.
  • Loads and unloads trucks. Checks and verifies deliveries against sales and transfer orders.
  • Completes manifest with pictures, signatures, and any returns by way of iPad or manual completion.
  • Records sales and/or delivery information as applicable.
  • Completes monthly driver log and any associated paperwork; ensures the vehicle is secured.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED; 1+ years of truck driving experience (26 ft vehicle or larger) or 1 year operating Johnstone equipment/vehicles under supervision; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience operating forklift and other warehouse equipment safely and competently.
  • Previous experience with OSHA and safety regulations and procedures.
  • Forklift certification required, or willingness to obtain on the job.

Physical Demand

  • Sit, stand, and walk on a concrete floor for much of the workday.
  • Reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Lift and carry and/or move up to 50 pounds and required to lift more weight with mechanical assistance or the assistance of team members.
  • Sit for long periods of time and can experience bouncing and vibration.
  • Talk or hear.
