Position Summary
The Material Handler plays a critical role in supporting manufacturing operations by ensuring the timely movement, storage, and availability of materials needed to meet production schedules and customer demands. This position is responsible for receiving, staging, transporting, replenishing, and tracking materials throughout the manufacturing process while maintaining inventory accuracy and compliance with company procedures. The Material Handler works closely with Production, Warehouse, Planning, and Quality teams to support operational efficiency, product quality, and safety objectives. This is an onsite position in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
In This Role, You Will Have the Chance To
- Ensure production areas are supplied with the materials, components, and inventory required to support daily manufacturing operations.
- Move, stage, replenish, and transport materials between warehouse, stockroom, and production areas while maintaining proper inventory controls.
- Receive, verify, and document material transactions accurately using company systems and established procedures.
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate shortages, discrepancies, or potential supply issues to appropriate personnel.
- Support inventory accuracy through cycle counts, stock checks, material reconciliation, and inventory tracking activities.
- Operate material handling equipment and tools safely while adhering to all company safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of material movements, inventory transactions, and production support activities.
- Collaborate with Production, Planning, Quality, and Warehouse teams to ensure uninterrupted material flow and operational efficiency.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with 5S and workplace safety standards.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on inventory accuracy, efficiency, safety, and waste reduction.
Essential Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Previous experience in manufacturing, warehouse, logistics, inventory control, material handling, or a related environment preferred.
- Basic understanding of inventory management and material handling practices.
- Ability to accurately complete inventory transactions and maintain detailed records.
- Basic computer skills, including data entry and inventory tracking systems.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work non-standard schedules, overtime, or weekends as business needs require.
- Regular and predictable onsite attendance.
Preferred Experience Includes
- Experience in a manufacturing, medical device, pharmaceutical, or other regulated environment.
- Experience with SAP, ERP, warehouse management systems, or inventory control software.
- Forklift and/or Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) operating experience.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Continuous Improvement, or Six Sigma principles.
- Experience supporting production operations through material replenishment and inventory management activities.
