Responsibilities

  • Coordinates material movement between departments per routing requirements.
  • Sorts questionable materials per Quality Control’s request.
  • Prints and distributes pick tickets and performs computer transactions as necessary.
  • Organizes sequence of pulling material and relays information to Material Support.
  • Ensures production schedules are met by timely and accurate processing and movement of goods.
  • Assists during daily peak times to include operating material handling equipment and performing all necessary computer transactions.
  • Ensures good communication and feedback with management, employees on their shift, and between shifts.
  • When assigned, assists the supervisor/area manager with Continuous Improvement Projects, evaluation of new equipment, determination of training needs, and interviewing/hiring.
  • Monitors and enforces shop floor control systems.
  • Follows all safety procedures, wears proper PPE, and proactively identifies and corrects unsafe conditions.
  • Studies systems and procedures for opportunities for improvement and proposes changes to Materials Manager.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of relevant experience and/or training preferred.
  • Forklift Certification a plus.

Skills

  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
  • Basic math and computer skills.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Some physical demand, often lifts light to heavy-weight material.
  • Frequent lifting/moving average weight (up to 50 lbs/11-27 kgs) material.
  • Ability to perform occasional to frequent pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, twisting, crawling, and/or reaching over a full work shift (8-12 hours).
  • Ability to operate motorized vehicles over a full work shift (8-12 hours).
  • Ability to stand and/or walk constantly over a full work shift on concrete (8-12 hours).
  • May be exposed to noise levels for which hearing protection must be worn over a full work shift (8-12 hours).
