Responsibilities
- Coordinates material movement between departments per routing requirements.
- Sorts questionable materials per Quality Control’s request.
- Prints and distributes pick tickets and performs computer transactions as necessary.
- Organizes sequence of pulling material and relays information to Material Support.
- Ensures production schedules are met by timely and accurate processing and movement of goods.
- Assists during daily peak times to include operating material handling equipment and performing all necessary computer transactions.
- Ensures good communication and feedback with management, employees on their shift, and between shifts.
- When assigned, assists the supervisor/area manager with Continuous Improvement Projects, evaluation of new equipment, determination of training needs, and interviewing/hiring.
- Monitors and enforces shop floor control systems.
- Follows all safety procedures, wears proper PPE, and proactively identifies and corrects unsafe conditions.
- Studies systems and procedures for opportunities for improvement and proposes changes to Materials Manager.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One year of relevant experience and/or training preferred.
- Forklift Certification a plus.
Skills
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
- Basic math and computer skills.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Some physical demand, often lifts light to heavy-weight material.
- Frequent lifting/moving average weight (up to 50 lbs/11-27 kgs) material.
- Ability to perform occasional to frequent pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, twisting, crawling, and/or reaching over a full work shift (8-12 hours).
- Ability to operate motorized vehicles over a full work shift (8-12 hours).
- Ability to stand and/or walk constantly over a full work shift on concrete (8-12 hours).
- May be exposed to noise levels for which hearing protection must be worn over a full work shift (8-12 hours).
