About the role
This position involves operating a forklift to move various sized units and products within a manufacturing facility. The role also includes participating in plant safety committees, adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and maintaining accurate inventory records.
Responsibilities
- Work safely at all times, complying with Pratt Industries Safety rules and GMPs.
- Participate in Plant Safety Committee meetings.
- Follow Pratt Industries quality procedures and policies.
- Stop and catch quality issues before they leave the facility.
- Perform general duties including housekeeping and cleaning of work areas.
- Maintain accurate records of unit movements for inventory accuracy.
- Perform basic forklift equipment maintenance.
- Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
- Must be able to work overtime as needed, including on holidays.
Requirements
- Pratt forklift certification.
- Two years’ forklift operation experience preferred.
- Experience with “scanner” or “barcode” warehouse management systems preferred.
- Able to multi-task, communicate effectively, problem solve, read and understand a tape measure, and manage time efficiently.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Experience in packaging, plastics, paper, converting, warehouse, or manufacturing industries preferred.
- Ability to read and follow instructions on factory masters.
- Mathematical skills including reading a tape measure, calculating percentages, measurements, volumes, and rates.
- Attention to detail and control to prevent damage to materials and equipment.
- Substance abuse screening required.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED.
- Experience driving and operating a forklift.
- Experience with “scanner” or “barcode” warehouse management systems.
- Experience in the packaging, plastics, paper, converting, warehouse, or manufacturing industries.

- Working knowledge of equipment design and capabilities.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Current Lift Truck Operator License.
Physical Demands
- Regularly stand, walk, and talk or hear.
- Frequently use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts.
- Frequent exposure to wet and/or humid conditions.
- Occasional exposure to high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, and vibration.
- Noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
