Full-time 1st shift position (6 AM–2 PM, Monday–Friday) in Mitchell, SD.
About the Role
As a Material Handler, you’ll support the flow of materials across the plant by unloading shipments, documenting and sorting incoming parts, keeping inventory updated, and preparing weekly outbound shipments for Midwest distribution.
Responsibilities
- Receive materials, review packing slips, and maintain accurate records.
- Unload incoming trucks, sort parts, and place materials on the welding line.
- Prepare and load weekly Midwest shipments; confirm customer shipping and delivery reports.
- Use SAP to locate, retrieve, and track inventory.
- Maintain inventory accuracy and notify Purchasing when materials need replenishment.
- Assist other Material Handlers as needed.
- Report issues to the Supervisor immediately.
- Follow all environmental, safety, and company policies.
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment; receiving experience is a plus.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Forklift-certified and confident operating material-handling equipment.
- Ability to communicate in English (speak, read, and understand) to follow work orders, read supervisor notes, and communicate with team members and other departments using a radio.
- Comfortable using computers and able to learn SAP to locate and track parts.
- Able to stay organized while juggling multiple tasks—unloading trucks, sorting materials, and pulling inventory.
- Strong attention to detail and keeps documentation accurate.
- Maintains a clean driving record to operate the company truck when needed.
Skills
- Basic computer literacy.
- Ability to read, write, and understand work orders and blueprints.
- Basic math and measuring skills.
- Forklift operation (certification required).
- Ability to organize receiving paperwork and multitask.
- Strong attention to detail.
Physical Requirements
- Sit 25% of the time and walk 75%; bending, twisting, and lifting required.
- Lift up to 50 lbs (25% of the time).
- Use chain hoists, pallet jacks, and hand trucks safely.
- Wear required PPE: steel-toe shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection.
