Material Handler 1st Shift
About the Role
The material handler physically receives and ships packages and orders into and out of the warehouse. This position requires the operation of a forklift and other tools as needed. They perform the required duties to quality and productivity standards, ensuring all activities align with Finlays Solutions’ mission, business philosophy, ethics, and goals.
Responsibilities
- Physically receives all incoming packages and orders, and prepares and ships outgoing packages.
- Verifies quantities ordered match quantities shipped on packing slips, notes discrepancies, and checks shipments for damages.
- Operates forklifts and wrapping machines as needed.
- Determines labeling requirements for shipping containers, including any special labels required by the customer.
- Prepares documents and records receipts in a timely manner.
- Moves materials from production to finished goods area and from receiving dock to storage areas.
- Uses an RF scanning device to move inventory.
- Understands inventory location processes and food safety requirements.
- Familiarity with loading trailers and safety of loading trailers.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Forklift Certification: Preferred, with forklift experience preferred.

- Leadership Skills: Ability to lead, motivate, and manage a team effectively.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities to interact with customers and team members.

- Technical Proficiency: Computer literacy and experience with RF scanners.
Physical Demands
- Ability to work beyond regularly scheduled hours during peak periods or critical operations.
- Must possess adequate vision, hearing, and verbal communication skills to meet essential job performance and safety standards.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and regularly perform physical tasks such as pushing, pulling, lifting, climbing, bending, stooping, squatting, and using hands for detailed tasks.
- Physically capable of performing tasks such as lifting, climbing, and using hand and power tools, including pallet jacks, scales, ladders, and standard material handling and cleaning equipment.
- Capable of safely lifting up to 50 pounds frequently throughout the day; ability to handle heavier items with proper lifting equipment or team-assisted techniques to ensure safety.
Work Environment
Employees must be able to work in a dynamic manufacturing environment that may include exposure to odors, dust, moderate noise levels, and fluctuations in temperature and ventilation. The work environment may involve exposure to inclement weather. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times, which may include safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, gloves, hairnets, uniforms, and face shields, as required by specific job duties and safety protocols.

Pay: $17-$19.50 per hour
