Material Handler 1st Shift

Responsibilities

• Move stock and other materials to and from storage and production areas by hand or other equipment
• Convey materials to or from storage or work sites to designated area, using hand truck, electric dolly, wheelbarrow, or other device
• Read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments, material and equipment needs
• Count, weigh and record number of units of materials moved or handled on a daily production sheet
• Attach identifying labels to containers, and/or mark them with identifying information
• Stack or assemble materials into bundles and bands bundles together, using banding machine or clincher
• Clean work area, machines, and equipment using broom, rags, and cleaning compounds to assist machine operators
• Affords assistance to other workers with specific tasks as requested
• Supports the Plant’s Food Safety initiatives by completing plant required Food Safety training and by implementing / complying with the required practices
• Follows plant safety procedures and guidelines
• Wears and utilizes personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
• Understands and identifies Lock-out/Tag-out procedures
• Informs supervisor of safety issues; reports any workplace injury or incident immediately
• Participates in the D&W safety improvement process/activities, e.g. Hazard Identification, Safety Suggestions, Safety Teams, etc.
