Job Description Summary
Expeditors coordinate the prompt movement of materials from suppliers through the various stages of the supply chain to the construction work sites. They set and maintain detailed schedules regarding material orders, production, logistics progress, delivery deadlines, and receiving requirements. They must proactively identify and effectively manage issues and communicate quickly, directly, and effectively with all key stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Delivery Notifications – Document and notify off-loading crews of upcoming deliveries. Update and issue a delivery calendar as necessary.
- Receipt of Material – Assist union crews in receiving material. Ensure loads match BOLs, take pictures, and complete SiteSense process for submittal.
- OSDs (Overages, Shortages, Damaged Items) – Create and track OSDs through the IMS system and work with NVE/Power to notify vendors and rectify the issue.
- Storage – Ensure material is stored in the proper section of the laydown yard using GPS coordinates.
- Barcoding – Create, print, and barcode items based on identified formats.
- Material Kitting – Work with substation foremen/crews to create and track kitted items.
- Inventor Management – Perform scheduled inventory control checks and document in IMS system.
- Material Requests – Work with substation crews to create request and issue tickets through the IMS system. Only for owner-supplied material and large, more valuable contractor-supplied material.
- GPS Coordinates – Enter GPS coordinates for location of barcoded items.
- IMS System Maintenance – Track new POs and updates to existing POs for owner-provided material and contractor-supplied material. Create import spreadsheets for IMS system based on quotes/drawings from vendors.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as construction expeditor or relevant material position.
- Experience in a business or supply delivery setting.
- Experience in project management and understanding of technical specifications of material and equipment used in transmission and substation construction.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, developed negotiation skills.
- Well-organized with focus on fine details in a multi-tasking environment, excellent problem-solving skills.
- An associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, construction engineering, logistics, or a related field.
- Accounting and budgeting experience, solid mathematical skills, and basic computer skills.
- Minimum 1 to 3 years’ experience in procurement, supply chain, planning, or material management positions.
- Substation and transmission line experience preferred.
- Able to effectively communicate commercial and logistical solutions and concepts to procurement personnel and non-procurement personnel.
- Advanced Excel user and proficient in MS Office suite.
