About the role
The Material Controller supports all aspects of the materials function, including receiving, shipping, inventory control, warehousing, purchasing support, and inventory replenishment activities. This position requires a broad understanding of materials management processes and the ability to perform at a high level across all departments within the materials team.
Responsibilities
- Properly receive, store, bin, and palletize inventory.
- Repackage materials as required.
- Protect inventory from damage, corrosion, and deterioration.
- Maintain inventory levels through rotation of stock, replenishment, and restocking activities.
- Inspect inventory and storage locations to ensure compliance with company standards.
- Perform inventory replenishment activities.
- Conduct cycle counts and assists with inventory accuracy initiatives.
- Manage Kanban replenishment systems and place orders as required.
- Maintain inventory item information and system updates.
- Assist with inventory layout, organization, and storage optimization.
- Support receiving, shipping, purchasing, and materials control activities.
- Assist with operations at other company sites as needed.
- Work closely with accounting to resolve receiving, shipping, or inventory-related discrepancies.
- Partner with Sales Administration to address customer order issues.
- Support and maintain 6S workplace organization and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain equipment certifications and operate material handling equipment safely.
- Participate in departmental training programs and cross-functional training activities.
- Adhere to established policies, procedures, and work instructions.
- Assume responsibility for other projects and duties as assigned by Warehouse Supervisor or Company management.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
- 2+ years’ experience in inventory control, warehousing, purchasing, shipping, or related materials management functions.
- Experience working with computerized inventory and purchasing systems.
- Certified to safely operate both sit-down and stand-up forklifts.
- Understanding of and adherence to applicable laws, codes, policies, regulations, and safety practices and procedures, as applicable.
- Must successfully establish employment eligibility and satisfactorily complete background checks, including drug screen, and required pre-employment testing as a condition of employment.
