About the role

The Material Controller will move product to maintain appropriate flow through production areas, ensuring accurate and timely documentation of material and product movement. Responsibilities include receiving, issuing, and physically moving material efficiently, interpreting production plans and shipping orders, completing cycle counts, and using material handling equipment such as forklifts and overhead cranes.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate and timely documentation of material and product movement to ensure inventory system accuracy and physical organization of inventory.
• Interpret production plans and shipping orders to maintain required levels of material handling and shipping.
• Complete regular cycle counts under accounting guidelines to ensure accuracy in IFS.
• Work timely and expeditiously to deliver an on-time product without errors.
• Use material handling equipment, including forklifts and overhead cranes, to load, unload, and move materials and products.
• Regularly assess and update priorities to ensure no lapse in production.
• Complete daily TPM inspections of forklifts.
• Perform other duties as directed by leaders and management.
• Actively participate in department safety, demonstrating excellent safety practices and behaviors.

Requirements

• A high school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of experience in a heavy manufacturing environment (desired).
• Prior forklift and overhead crane experience.
• Ability to prioritize work to meet deadlines.
• Basic computer knowledge and understanding of job-related programs.

Qualifications

Highly qualified candidates will also possess:

• An Associate’s degree in a manufacturing-related field.
• Ability to lead by example and earn the respect and trust of co-workers, customers, and stakeholders.
• Understanding of priorities and ability to balance short-term and long-term requirements.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and concisely.

Working Environment and Physical Efforts

This position works in both indoor and outdoor locations during all seasons. Required personal protective equipment includes safety glasses with side shields, safety shoes, and hearing protection. Physical demands may include:

• Reaching with hands and arms, frequent use of hands and fingers at a keyboard.
• Getting on and off heavy machinery.
• Occasional bending or twisting.
• Occasionally lifting, pulling, or moving up to 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities, including close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Schedule

2nd shift: Monday to Thursday, 5:00 PM – 3:30 AM.

Pay

Starting pay: $26.24/hour with a $2.00/hour night shift differential. Pay increases at 90-day and 6-month anniversaries.
